This course is designed for adults who would like to strengthen their literacy skills in a supportive, learner-guided environment. Instruction is shaped collaboratively, allowing sessions to focus on the reading, writing, or communication skills most relevant to the learner’s interests, needs, or goals.
The course emphasizes clarity, confidence, and practical skill development. Sessions are paced thoughtfully, with time for discussion, guided practice, and reflection. Learners may work with a variety of texts, formats, and writing tasks, depending on their interests and objectives.
Areas of focus may include:
- Reading comprehension and interpretation
- Vocabulary development and clarity of expression
- Writing structure, organization, and tone
- Grammar and sentence-level accuracy
- Exploring texts chosen by the learner (articles, short fiction, nonfiction, practical texts)
- Guided writing activities and revision strategies
