Reading, Writing, and Academic Language Skills

Focused literacy instruction to support academic performance across subjects.

Strong literacy skills are foundational to success in all areas of the secondary curriculum. Instruction supports students in developing reading comprehension, clear written expression, and effective use of academic language. Emphasis is placed on structure, clarity, and accuracy. Instruction follows a consistent cycle of practice, feedback, and revision delivered by an experienced Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT).

Support may include:

• Reading comprehension and analytical strategies
• Paragraph and essay structure
• Grammar, sentence clarity, and written accuracy
• Planning, drafting, and revising written work
• Supporting literacy demands across subject areas

This service supports students whose literacy skills impact performance across multiple courses and assessments.

Session Structure and Fees

Sessions are offered in a one-to-one format, either in person or online, or in small groups (maximum 3 students). Students may attend one, two, or three hours per week depending on individual need.
