Where do you offer services?

We offer our services online for anyone in Ontario or in person. Tutors will meet at local libraries in Perth and Smiths Falls for in person sessions. For an additional fee of $15, tutors can travel within 15km of Perth, or Smiths Falls Ontario to the students home for in person sessions.

How do I know if tutoring is the right fit for my child?

Tutoring is appropriate for students who benefit from additional structure, reinforcement, or individualized pacing. This may include support with specific subjects, organization and study skills, assessment preparation, or maintaining consistent academic progress throughout the school year.


Do you follow the Ontario curriculum?

Yes. Instruction is aligned with the Ontario curriculum and tailored to each student’s learning needs, course expectations, and goals.


How are tutoring sessions structured?

Sessions are individualized and goal-focused. Tutors review current coursework, address areas of difficulty, reinforce classroom instruction, and support skill development. Progress is monitored regularly to ensure instruction remains effective and relevant.


Will tutoring replace classroom instruction?

No. Tutoring is designed to complement classroom learning, not replace it. Sessions reinforce concepts taught at school and help students build confidence and independence in their academic work.


How often should my child attend tutoring?

Most students benefit from weekly sessions to maintain consistency and momentum. Frequency may be adjusted depending on academic goals, course demands, or upcoming assessments.


What subjects do you support?

Support is offered across core subject areas for Grades 7–12, as well as select adult education courses. Please contact us for current course availability.


How do cancellations work?

Sessions must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. With proper notice, sessions may be rebooked within the same week, subject to availability. Late cancellations and missed sessions are not eligible for rescheduling.


What if my child is sick?

If notice is provided at least 24 hours in advance, the session may be rebooked within the same week. Same-day cancellations due to illness are treated as late cancellations.


How is my child’s privacy protected?

Student information and progress are kept confidential. Tutors communicate only with parents or guardians and do not discuss students with anyone else.


Will I receive updates on my child’s progress?

Yes. Parents may request updates regarding progress, focus areas, and next steps. Communication is clear, professional, and centered on supporting student growth.


Do you offer online tutoring?

Yes. Online sessions follow the same structured, curriculum-aligned approach as in-person tutoring.


IEP & Learning Support FAQs (Grades 7–12)

Do you support students with IEPs?

Yes. Tutoring can be aligned with a student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Instruction focuses on supporting learning goals, reinforcing classroom strategies, and helping students access curriculum expectations in a structured and supportive way.


Will tutors follow my child’s accommodations?

Tutors work with families to understand relevant accommodations and learning needs. Strategies may include pacing adjustments, organization support, modified instruction approaches, and reinforcement of classroom accommodations where appropriate.


Do you communicate with my child’s school?

Tutors do not communicate directly with schools unless arranged and authorized by the parent. Families are welcome to share relevant documentation or updates to help inform instruction.


Can tutoring help with organization and executive functioning?

Yes. Support may include planning, task breakdown, time management, and study strategies, particularly for students who benefit from additional structure and routine.


Is tutoring suitable for students who feel anxious or overwhelmed at school?

Tutoring is designed to provide a calm, supportive environment that builds confidence and understanding. Sessions move at a pace that supports comprehension and reduces academic stress.


How is progress measured for IEP-supported students?

Progress is monitored through ongoing observation, skill development, and alignment with academic goals. Updates can be shared with parents to support consistency between tutoring and home or school expectations.

Who are your adult education services designed for?

Adult programming is designed for learners seeking skill development, academic refreshers, personal enrichment, or structured support in a calm and respectful learning environment.


Do I need prior experience or recent schooling?

No. Instruction is tailored to your starting point and goals. Sessions focus on building understanding at a comfortable pace, regardless of prior experience.

 


What types of courses or support do you offer for adults?

Adult programming may include literacy support, writing and communication skills, foundational academics, creative writing, history, and introductory technology or AI literacy, depending on availability.


Is instruction personalized?

Yes. Adult learning sessions are individualized and guided by your goals, interests, and learning preferences.


Are sessions formal or conversational?

Sessions are structured but approachable. Instruction is clear and organized, with space for discussion, questions, and practical application.


Do you offer ongoing or short-term support?

Both options are available. Some learners prefer ongoing sessions for consistency, while others focus on specific short-term goals.


Is my participation confidential?

Yes. All adult learners are supported with professionalism and discretion. Personal learning goals and progress remain confidential.


Can I attend tutoring alongside work or retirement schedules?

Yes. Scheduling is designed to be flexible and respectful of adult commitments.
